About FineLine

A boat shopon Kachemak Bay.

FineLine Jetboats is Petr Afonin's shop in Homer, Alaska. It started with one boat he built for himself.

How it started

It started with one boat.

Petr loves to fish. He has fished and worked as a deckhand on commercial boats in Bristol Bay.

He built a mini jet for himself. Then other people wanted one. In August 2020, at 25, he went full time.

Today the shop builds mini jets, finishes hulls, installs UltraDeck, and builds the GEN X33, a 33 foot ocean boat.

Along the way

From one boat to the GEN X33.

How we work

We build it. Then we use it.

Our shop boats go hunting and fishing every year, the same way yours will. When something could be better, we change how we build it.

We also plan for the day something needs work. Parts go where you can reach them, so checks and fixes are easy.

“A true custom mini-jet-boat builder.”

In 2021, Fish Alaska wrote about FineLine in its series on mini jet boats: how Petr got started, and why he lets customers pick their own engines.

The shop

Homer, Alaska.

Our shop is in Homer, Alaska, on Kachemak Bay. Big tides, cold water, and fast weather make it a good place to test a boat.
